DTF vs. Embroidery Hat Finish Guide
Choosing the right finish matters. DTF and embroidery create two distinctly different looks and textures. Understanding the difference before ordering helps you choose the finish you actually want, avoid unnecessary replacement costs, and ensures your hat is produced correctly the first time. This guide will help you understand those differences before selecting the finish for your Fin City Threads hat.

DTF (Direct-to-Film)
Embroidery
Smooth, detailed finish. DTF reproduces detailed artwork, gradients, fine lines, and vibrant colors with a smooth printed appearance. It does not have the raised thread texture of embroidery.
Textured, stitched finish. Embroidery creates the design using thread, giving it a raised, dimensional appearance. Fine details and color transitions may appear differently than the original artwork because the design must be translated into stitches.
Which Should I Choose
Both finishes are durable and designed for everyday wear, but they create noticeably different looks. Choose DTF if you prefer a smooth, highly detailed, full-color design. Choose Embroidery if you prefer a traditional stitched look with visible thread texture and dimension. Some highly detailed designs may only be available in DTF.
Before You Order
Please review your finish selection carefully before placing your order. DTF and embroidery are two different decoration methods and will not have the same appearance or texture. The finish selected when your order is placed is the finish that will be produced. Choosing the correct option before ordering helps avoid unnecessary replacement and production costs.
Because each hat is produced according to the finish selected at checkout, choosing the wrong finish is not considered a production error. Exchanges or replacements due solely to selecting DTF instead of embroidery, or embroidery instead of DTF, are not eligible for a free replacement.
